Most insurance claims are financed by a few foreign reinsurance companies. Of this, GIC reimbursed US 7 million as part of insurance claims settlement. In addition to claiming full status, New India Assurance paid Rs 35 million for liability as immediate relief to the affected passengers.

It is to be mentioned that the Air India Express Boeing 737 with 191 passengers from Dubai slipped and fell into two pieces while landing in Kozhikode, Kerala on Friday night, August 7. At least 18 people, including the pilot and co-pilot, were killed and several others were injured. As the crashed plane did not have the opportunity to be repaired, the total loss had to be paid.
